More Effort From You Isn't Always the Answer.

The Pilates industry has a dirty little secret — and I was living it for years before I saw it.


I kept thinking if I just learned more exercises, more cueing techniques, more correction strategies — my results would improve. And they did, a little. But there was a ceiling. And I kept hitting it. The problem wasn't my effort or my knowledge base. It was my assumption that more input from me would create better output from my clients. But that's not how the brain learns. The brain doesn't change faster because you're talking more. It changes faster when it's receiving better sensory information. When the visual system is clearer. When the vestibular system is stronger. When the nervous system finally has what it needs to build a new pattern. That's when everything shifts. Not gradually — noticeably.


More effort from you isn't always the answer. Better input to the brain usually is.
