When a client tells you "I'm just not coordinated" — please don't let that slide.

It's one of the most common things I hear in the studio. Said almost apologetically. Like it's a personality trait they were born with and just have to live around. And for years I didn't have a great answer for it either. I'd reassure them, modify the exercise, move on. But here's what I know now — coordination isn't fixed. It's not a gift some people have and others don't. It's a skill. And like any skill, it's driven by the brain. Specifically by how well the sensory systems are communicating — how accurately the visual system is tracking, how reliably the vestibular system is orienting, how efficiently the brain is processing and responding to movement information. When those systems are trained directly — when you give the brain better input to work with — coordination improves. Sometimes gradually. Sometimes surprisingly fast. I've watched clients who had written themselves off completely start moving with a confidence they didn't think was available to them anymore. That "I'm just not coordinated" story — it doesn't have to be permanent. It just hasn't been addressed at the right level yet.

Coordination isn't a trait — it's a trainable skill. And you're the teacher who can change that story for your clients.
