Coordination Problems? Check the Eyes.

If your client struggles with coordination — look at their eyes. Not their core. Not their alignment. Their eyes.
I know that sounds strange. But here's what most Pilates teachers were never shown — vision is one of the brain's primary tools for understanding space. It's constantly telling the brain where the body is, where it needs to go, and how to get there safely. So when visual control is weak — when the eyes aren't tracking well or working together efficiently — movement breaks down. Not because the body is weak. Because the map is unreliable. And here's what still surprises me even after years of working with this — when you start training eye movement control directly, coordination can improve faster than almost anything else I've seen in the studio. We're talking about clients who struggled for months shifting in just a few sessions. Not because we worked harder. Because we finally looked in the right place.
The eyes have been in the room this whole time. Most of us just weren't trained to use them.
