That Client Who Doesn't Respond Like Everyone Else? It's Not Them.

Every Pilates teacher has had that client. The one who just doesn't respond the way everyone else does. I used to think that was about the client. Now I know it's about the program.

Cookie cutter programming works well enough for a lot of people. And that's actually the problem — because "well enough" becomes the standard. But every nervous system is different. Every brain has its own sensory profile. The way one client processes visual information, tolerates vestibular challenge, or responds to unpredictability is completely unique to them. And when you're running the same sequence, the same cues, the same progression for every client — you're essentially asking every brain to learn the same way. Some will thrive. Others will quietly struggle and wonder what's wrong with them. Nothing is wrong with them. The program just isn't speaking their nervous system's language. When you start assessing sensory differences — when you understand what each brain actually needs to learn and adapt — programming stops being a template you apply and starts being something you build around the person in front of you. That's when the clients who felt impossible start becoming your most remarkable transformations.

The most powerful program you can write is the one built around that specific nervous system. That's the foundation of everything I teach.
