McEntire Receives Western Michigan University 2015-16 Distinguished Alumni Award
Trent McEntire, Director and Founder of McEntire Pilates (www.mcentirepilates.com) was presented the 2015-16 Distinguished Alumni Award from Western Michigan University. The award recognizes McEntire’s work in the development of Pilates methods, most notably Neuro-Movement and the invention of Arcus™.
“It is truly an honor,” said McEntire. “My experience as a student of Dance at Western Michigan University provided a solid foundation for the work in creating Neuro-Movement programs and equipment. WMU’s Dance program is unique in that it provides a balanced education in both the arts and movement science, including studies in kinesiology and physics.”
Since graduation, McEntire has dedicated his life’s work to helping people with movement gaps. In 2002, the McEntire Pilates studio opened its doors in Rochester, Michigan taking the principals of Pilates and combining the knowledge of brain patterning. The McEntire International School was established in 2013 as a platform to expand Neuro-Movement and Arcus training worldwide.

“When we help someone with limiting conditions, such as Parkinsons or a degenerative spine disease, to learn and practice their newfound body connection, it’s a very rewarding experience,” said McEntire. “They begin to connect and learn to move their bodies in ways they did not think possible. It’s exciting to see clients recognize the possibilities and begin gaining an important part of their life back.”
McEntire continues to expand the Neuro-Movement work through educators worldwide bringing this vision to greater numbers of people in need.
